The Department of Hispanic Studies prepares students to become licensed teachers in Spanish (K-12). Students pursuing certification must have a strong academic record and demonstrate the desire and ability to facilitate learning and study abroad in a country where Spanish is spoken (one semester prior to spring of the junior year or enrollment in Educ 360). Students will follow a carefully constructed and monitored course of study, which has been designed to meet the standards of the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). These requirements and more are listed on the Spanish Teacher Licensure Program  Educational Studies  page.
