Welcome to the IWU Jewish Life Homepage! We have included a number of resources to help you explore and stay connected to Judaism through your years here at Illinois Wesleyan. You can also find us on Facebook.
There is a synagogue just a few minutes away from campus called Moses Montefiore Temple. It is affiliated with the Reform movement and is represented nationally by the Union for Reform Judaism. Feel free to visit their website at http://www.mosesmontefioretemple.org/.
The center for Jewish life on campus is IWU Hillel (the Jewish student organization). We meet every couple of weeks to learn, eat, play games, and plan future events. Some of our larger, campus-wide events include the Hanukkah Dinner, the Passover Dinner, and Shabbat dinners. We also host film showings and speakers to educate the campus on in order to share our Jewish faith.
If you have any questions about Jewish life at Illinois Wesleyan, please do not hesitate to contact the University Chaplain, Elyse Nelson Winger at firstname.lastname@example.org, or current Jewish students. You may also contact Hillel student leader Jennifer Altman '16 at email@example.com.
Kosher meals are currently unavailable on the IWU Campus, but you are free to waive your meal plan fee if you do not wish to utilize campus dining services. Resources for Jewish students include:
