Structured Recruitment Overview

Structured Recruitment offers you an opportunity to meet chapter members and other men participating in the Fall Recruitment process while learning what each fraternity has to offer. Throughout the process, Interfraternity Council officers will answer all questions which may arise while participating in recruitment.  Participating in the recruitment process does not require you to join a fraternity. It does, however, enable you to explore and learn more about Illinois Wesleyan University and our Greek community. This is a great way to meet new people and find out about many ways to get involved at IWU. This process is intended to be a positive and enriching experience for everyone who participates. Please note that bids are not guaranteed, so you are strongly encouraged to meet as many chapter members as you can throughout this event. We also encourage you to keep an open mind.

How to Register for Structured Recruitment

Registration is a quick and easy process. Once you have registered, your information will be sent to the recruitment officers from the five fraternities to let them know you are interested in receiving more information. The process of going through the fraternity recruitment process is free.

Fall 2021 Recruitment Schedule

Given the response to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, a healthy, safe, and event-compliant fraternity recruitment process has been developed by the Interfraternity Council.

Thursday, September 2 | Fraternity Recruitment Orientation
7:30 PM | Hansen Student Center, Center Court
This orientation is an opportunity to learn about the recruitment process, each individual chapter, and the role of the Interfraternity Council. Potential new members will have the opportunity to connect with other individuals participating in the recruitment process, as well as hear about the schedule of individual chapter events occurring throughout the week.

Monday, September 6 - Wednesday, September 8 | Individual Chapter Events
7:30 PM - 9:30 PM
Each chapter will host events and activities at their chapter homes or in on-campus rooms to get to know members of the chapter. The organizations will have activities and games to participate in, as well as more information about their specific chapter. There will be more information shared by email and at the fraternity orientation for those who have registered.

Thursday, September 9 & Friday, September 10 | Potential New Member Interviews | 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM
Recruitment interviews are the next process in formal recruitment. These interviews will be at most 15 minutes and provide a professional and formal environment for Chapters to evaluate potential new member’s values, personality, and potential as a Chapter member. All students must attend an interview from a Chapter in order to receive a bid from that Chapter.

Saturday, September 11 or Sunday, September 12 | Invite-Only/Preference Dinners
This exclusive dinner is invite-only and invites are decided by each Chapter. Dinners are hosted off campus at one of the many restaurants around Bloomington-Normal.
