As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve rapidly, IWU is taking steps to keep our community healthy, and are following all recommendations from health agencies to help slow the spread of the virus. We recognize that the recent events and disruptions due to the spread of COVID-19 is having negative impacts on each of you. We are working together to provide ongoing support and care for our community, but as we are all aware, we have restrictions on the services we can provide. Given the decision to suspend all in-person classes and for many students to return home, we are unable to provide direct in person psychotherapy services to most students because of professional licensure restrictions. We have adjusted our services in the following ways, and recognize that these plans could evolve:
1. If you are an ongoing client of CCS and have been approved to stay on campus, we are open to discussing options for counseling services. A health screening will need to be provided before entering CCS, and a virtual (e.g., telephone) appointment may be suggested. We ask that you call (309-556-3052) before coming in to CCS to discuss your options.
2. If you are not on campus and are in need of services, we would be glad to assist and answer any questions you may have. You can find local providers for your area at psychologytoday.com. Please check with your insurance company to ensure you are aware of the cost of services, and which providers are in your network. Please also know that students with student health insurance have free access to health care at Healthiest You and free mental health counseling at Better Help. The Better Help will provide mental health counseling for students that have not purchased our insurance for “below market price”. Specifically, it is $85.00 for a therapist each time or $200.00 for a psychiatrist’s initial visit and $95.00 after that.
***It is important to note that if you are NOT on campus, we ask that you do not return to campus until IWU announces it is safe to return. We are doing our best to keep your safety in mind. As of now, we are available by phone at 309-556-3052 and are here to provide assistance in the ways that we can.
If you are experiencing a crisis and need immediate help, please call 911 or PATH (309-827-4005) or go to your nearest emergency room. You can also access the Crisis Text Line at 741741, and text HOME to get assistance.
If you have any further questions please contact us, so that we can help in any way that we can. In the meantime, stay healthy and safe!
