IWU Artist in Residency Program
The School of Art is happy to announce an exciting new partnership with Shiro Oni
Studio in Fujioka-shi, Japan for the 2019-20 academic year. The Illinois Wesleyan
University Artist in Residency Program will host one artist each semester.
The artists will enjoy private studio space in the Ames School of Art and mount a
solo art exhibition near the end of the six-week residency.
The Illinois Wesleyan University Artist Residency Program will offer IWU students
the opportunity to interact with innovative artists from around the globe.
Our Fall 2019 Artist in Residence:
Eileen Ryan is a cross-disciplinary artist from Massachusetts, USA. She uses her background
in science to create investigative works about existential stability, spirituality,
phenomenology, time and connection. Using a proces of experimentation and observation,
Eileen creates performative works and installations to communicate her concepts to
a variety of audiences. She has exhibited work in New York, Boston, Tel Aviv, London,
Japan, Ireland, Portugal and Peru.
