President's Welcome

What is it that sets Illinois Wesleyan apart?

As the new president of Illinois Wesleyan, I’d like to share with you why I decided this was the right place for me, and why I hope you will decide it is the right place for you, too.

Illinois Wesleyan has a unique academic program that is grounded in the liberal arts and sciences. We are student focused, and offer only undergraduate degrees. However, unlike the typical liberal arts college, we offer professional schools of nursing, art, music and theatre, and a very strong and popular business program. With a student to faculty ratio of 11 to 1, our students receive a very personal education.

Contributing to the strong national reputation that Illinois Wesleyan enjoys is our commitment to offering students a broad range of distinctive experiential learning opportunities, which are central to the Wesleyan educational experience. Whether your interest is in research, study abroad, community service or internships, experiential learning is designed to complement and enhance what you’ll learn in the classroom. Because of this, our graduates come away with the skills and experiences that employers and graduate schools value, as evidenced by our exceptional placement record and the successes of our graduates at every level.

Your college experience will encompass more than academics. Illinois Wesleyan is a welcoming and diverse community where students, faculty and staff respect and support one another. There are hundreds of organizations, events and activities and a wide array of living and dining options. Also, unlike many small college towns, the twin cities of Bloomington and Normal have a combined population of 125,000, and are ranked among the best colleges towns in the nation.

Thanks for visiting us online, but to truly know us, I hope you’ll find the time to visit campus and decide for yourself whether or not Illinois Wesleyan is the right place for you.

Sincerely,

Eric R. Jensen
