We will discuss a non-drug, highly effective program that utilizes real food to regain a pain free life and great health.

Disposal=Safety:
The importance prescription drug disposal plays
in keeping teens in our community safe.

Presented by Kellie Rubbell-Hendrichs, Prevention Manager - Project OZ & Director of Operations - Heartland Coalition for Youth and Families
Thursday, February 18 Noon-1:00 p.m.
Henning Room, Memorial Center

Although teens are turning away from street drugs, there is a new threat - the family medicine cabinet and the abuse of prescription drugs and over-the-counter drugs (OTC). Due to a rise in prescription drug abuse, now, more than ever, it is important to take responsibility for properly disposing of unused, unneeded, or expired prescription drugs. During this session we will discuss the specific dangers of prescription drug abuse and how proper disposal of prescription drugs not only keeps these drugs out of the hands of young people, but benefits our water supply, too. Our discussion will include information on recent collaborations with law enforcement in Bloomington and Normal, Illinois State University and Illinois Wesleyan University to sponsor secure drug disposal boxes. These secure drop off boxes allow community members to drop off and properly dispose of medications, including narcotics and controlled substances, therefore keeping these medications out of the hands of young people and less likely to end up in our water supply. Come learn how Disposal=Safety!

General Information For
Titan Triathlon Trainning for Beginners

The primary goal of this program is to enable someone who has never done a triathlon to finish a sprint triathlon after 2.5 months of training. If you complete the majority of the workouts, finishing a sprint triathlon is a reasonable goal.

Two levels of workouts will be provided: beginner and intermediate. Feel free to mix and match workouts. For example, if you have a strong running background, you should probably do the intermediate run workouts and then target the beginner swim and bike workouts. Total weekly time commitment should fall into the 4-10 hour range. The program will be progressive in that both overall time and intensity will go up as the program progress.

By this time almost everyone has some notion of his or her "core" though most still think about "a six pack of abs" when they hear the term. In fact your core is made up of many more muscles and is considered the "hub" or your body. That makes it very important! This workshop will discuss what your core really is and what role it plays in your health and mobility. We will discuss and demonstrate core exercises and present a basic core program you can follow to strengthen and stabilize your core.
