1. Write a review of the IWU School of Theatre Arts Lab Theatre production of Attempts on Her Life. Your paper should discuss the production as an interpretation of the script; that is, you should show how the production emphasizes (or fails to emphasize) a particular aspect of the play as written, and base your evaluation of the production on that analysis. How do the decisions of the director, designer(s), and actors shape the way the audience perceives the meaning of the play? Is that emphasis appropriate to the play as written? Your analysis of the production should reveal intimate familiarity both with the essential ideas and issues in the play as written and with details of all aspects of the production.
2. Plan a production of Attempts on Her Life. Your task is more or less to take on all the duties of a somewhat authoritarian director of the play: you must determine the spine of the play, decide upon a concept and a style for the production, give general directions to all the designers (costume, scene, lighting, sound) and the actors in the major parts, etc. You must back up your interpretation of the play with an analysis (with evidence) of what you take to be the play's major ideas.
