IWU Tributaries

IWU sophomore and writing community member Kamaya Thompson had her first book Blue Rose published by McClure Publishing. It is currently for sale on Amazon and at Illinois Wesleyan's Bookstore. This poetry novel is a book you should all read, if only to support your local arts and artists!

The Spooky Slam featuring Nathaniel Strauss and Stephanie Nudelman took place on Thursday night, and was Tributaries' first poetry slam of the year. The event had free candy, punch, Ernest Hemingway, and Sylvia Plath, as well as some great (and occasionally spectacularly spooky) poetry. The weather (torrential downpour with a slight hint of monsoon) was the perfect ambiance for the spookiest slam yet.

Dr. Sainsbury was the second to present in Tributaries' Faculty lecture series on Tuesday, October 20, 2009. She read from her recently finalized memoir, Lost River, which is about her father's tragic suicide. The reading was well attended, moving, heartfelt, engaging, and exactly what the writing community ordered. Click the title to find out more!

Last weekend the IWU Writing Community (LG-PR-T) hosted a Presidential Feature and viewing of Dead Poet's Society.

Tributaries is a whole new beast in 2009 with robust plans to be an integral part of the lit community here at Illinois Wesleyan University.
