GRANDMA'S DELICIOUS CARAMELS
Ingredients:
  • 2 C. light corn syrup
  • 1-(14oz) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 1/2 C. milk
  • 1 C. whipping cream
  • Wax paper cut into rectangles
  • 1 C. butter
  • 4 C. sugar
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 C. nuts (walnuts)
Directions:
  1. Butter a 9 inch X 13 inch baking pan.
  2. Combine sugar, corn syrup, condensed milk, milk, cream, and butter.
  3. Place over medium heat and stir occasionally with wooden spoon until it comes to boil.
  4. Clip on candy thermometer.
  5. Cook and stir constantly until it reaches 240 degrees F or soft ball stage.
  6. Remove from heat.
  7. Stir in vanilla and nuts.
  8. Pour without scraping into pan.
  9. Allow to stand overnight.
  10. Cut into 1-inch squares.
  11. Wrap in wax paper.
