Computers in the Library

Recommended ways to access your files over the IWU network from The Ames Library.

   Access a shared folder set-up on your own personal computer.
       1. Click on "Network Neighborhood".
     2. Click "Search" on the toolbar.
     3. In "Computer Name" enter the name of the computer
         you want to find and search.
     4. When the name appears in the Search Results Box - double click
         and enter your username/password.
     5. Drag and drop the file you want onto the desktop.
     6. When you are finished drag and drop the file back
         and delete it from the desktop.
   Use space on your sun account to access files.
       1. Click on the "Sun FTP" icon on the desktop (secure ftp)
     2. Enter your sun username and password
     3. Drag and drop the file you want onto the desktop
     4. When you are finished drag and drop the file back
         onto your sun account and delete it from the desktop.

** IMPORTANT: Never leave the file on a public machine in The Ames Library. We cannot guarantee it will still be there when you return.
