NORTH PARK COURSE DESCRIPTION

The course changed this year to a full 8k for the men and 5k for the women, while still being run at Legion Park. The conditions, while not hot at 80 degrees at race time, were very humid (84%) and the wind was unnoticeable. The course was slightly slick from minor precipitation earlier that morning. From the start the meet consisted of simple loops along a long and narrow rectangular park that should have heeded fast times due to lack of any vertical changes. However, with the required two crossings of a paved underpass 30 meters long each way for the men and once each way for the women, the ability to wear longer spikes to help with the wet conditions were neutralized. The only other major obstacle the runners faced were the directions given by meet officials. Runners from both the men's and women's races were given wrong directions as to when they were supposed to make their final turn towards the finish during one of the loops. Fortunately for everyone, no one's place was compromised.
