May 10-13
The Illinois Wesleyan women's golf team finished eighth in the national NCAA Division III tournament, held May 10-13 at the Mid Pines Inn and Golf Club in Southern Pines, N.C. The Titans finished with a four day total of 1358 as Methodist (N.C.) won its eighth straight women's title with a team score of 1272. Methodist's Charlotte Williams was the individual medalist with a 304 score as freshman Taylor Paskell was IWU's leader, finishing with a score of 333 (+45) and in 17th place. April 26
Junior Ashley Higginson has been named "Most Valuable Player" for the Illinois Wesleyan women's golf team. Higginson has a team best 83.61 scoring average in 18 rounds with a season low round of 75 in winning last fall’s Augustana Invitational, one of her four top 10 individual finishes. Higginson’s two-day score of 165 was second to teammate medalist Taylor Paskell in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin tournament, won by IWU for the third straight season. The Titans’ season may not be over - IWU finds out May 2 whether they have been selected to play in the NCAA Division III national championships, held May 10-13 in Southern Pines, N.C. IWU finished sixth in the national tourney in 2000 and 10th in 2002.

April 15-16
The Illinois Wesleyan women's golf team, ranked No. 7 in the latest NCAA Division III rankings compiled by Golfstat, finished fourth in the IWU annual "Spring Fling", held April 15-16 at Normal's Ironwood Golf Course. IWU finished with a two-day total of 635, behind No. 5-nationally ranked DePauw, No. 3-ranked St. Mary's (Ind.), and No. 8-ranked Wisconsin-Eau Claire (618). Andrea Johanns and Megan Teschner finished in a tie for 14th place with two-day scores of 157 while Ashley Higginson placed in a tie for 24th with a 159 total. Maggie Loney of UW-EC and DePauw's Sarah Gates tied for the individual medalist honors with 144 scores.

April 14
The Illinois Wesleyan women’s golf team, ranked No. 7 in the latest NCAA Division III rankings compiled by Golfstat, will host their annual “Spring Fling” this Friday and Saturday at Normal’s Ironwood Golf Course. Tee times are 12 noon on Friday and 9 a.m. on Saturday with shotgun starts each day. In addition to IWU, 21 other schools will compete in the 36-hole event, including three other squads currently ranked in Golfstat’s top 10 - No. 3 St. Mary’s (Ind.), No. 5 DePauw, and No. 8 Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

April 9
Taylor Paskell and Ashley Higginson finished third and fourth individually to lead the Illinois Wesleyan women's golf team to the championship in the St. Francis Invitational at Broken Arrow Golf Club in Lockport on Sat., April 9. The Titans posted a 336 total for a five-shot win over runner-up St. Ambrose (341). Missouri-St. Louis (346) was third, while St. Francis and Robert Morris tied for fourth at 363. Paskell carded a 9-over par 81, and Higginson posted an 82. IWU's Alison Mayer was eighth with an 86. Andrea Johanns and Megan Teschner both fired 87s. Missouri-St. Louis' Lauren Glenn was the medalist with a 77.

March 18
Illinois Wesleyan's Alison Mayer finished sixth to help the Titan women's golf team to a second-place finish in the Jekyll Island (Ga.) One-Day Classic golf tournament on Fri., March 18. Mayer tied Ashley Warsaw of Savannah School of Art and Design for the fifth-best score of 84, but lost a scorecard playoff to place sixth. The Titans finished with a 349, 24 strokes behind winner Mary Hardin-Baylor (325) in the nine-team event. Taylor Paskell and Andrea Johanns (87s) tied for 13th, and Ashley Higginson and Kristi Katz (91s) tied for 24th.

October 19
For the third consecutive year, Illinois Wesleyan’s Kathy Niepagen has been selected as the CCIW’s “Coach of the Year” for women’s golf.
With five players in the top 10, IWU captured its third straight league championship earlier this month, winning the event by 30 strokes over runner-up Carthage’s second place total of 704. In the past three years the Titans have won by margins of 33 (2002), 37 (2003) and 30 (2004) in their championship run.
The winning score of 674 is the third lowest score ever recorded in CCIW championship play, trailing only the 658 recorded a year ago by IWU and the 673 put up by Millikin in 2000.

October 1-2
Freshman Taylor Paskell was the tournament medalist and the Illinois Wesleyan women’s golf team won its third straight College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin championship in the event held Oct. 1-2 at Brighton Dale Links Golf Course in Kansasville, Wis. Paskell shot a second day seven-over par 79 to finish with a 164 total, one better than teammate (and first day leader) Ashley Higginson at 165. Alison Mayer (170) was fifth, Kristi Katz (174) was eighth and Megan Teschner (176) was ninth as the Titans compiled a two-day 674 total, 30 better than second place Carthage at 304.

September 25-26
The Illinois Wesleyan University women’s golf team slipped to a second place finish behind a hot-shooting Wisconsin-Eau Claire at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Invitational at Prairie Woods Golf Course in Avalon, Wis. on Sat.-Sun., Sept. 25-26. Alison Mayer finished tied for sixth with a two-day 163 total and Andrea Johanns tied for eighth at 164. The Titans managed only one score in the 70s (Ashley Higginson’s 79) in carding a team 335 on day two for a 657 total. UW-Eau Claire had a blistering final day team score of 315 total to finish at 645 and the BluGolds' Jessica Thompson was medallist at 155.

September 24
The Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team placed five players in the top 15 and won the Carthage College Fall Invitational at Brighton Dale Links in Kansasville, Wis., on Fri., Sept. 24. Andrea Johanns shot an 83 to place seventh while Ashley Higginson shot an 84 to place 10th. Alison Mayer was 12th with an 85 while Taylor Paskell and Megan Teschner each had scores of 87 and tied for 15th. The Titans had a team score of 339, topping second place Illinois College by three strokes.

September 18-19
The Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team finished fifth in its own tournament, held Sept. 18-19 at Normal's Ironwood Golf Course. DePauw won the team title with a 613 score and the individual title as Sarah Gates carded a one-over par 145. The Titans finished at 629 as a team and Alison Mayer finished tied for 15th with a two-day total of 156. Ashley Higginson carded a 158 to finish tied for 22nd and freshman Taylor Paskell shot a second-round 74 (the team's low single round to date) to finish with a 159 for two days, tied for 25th.

September 11
The Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team finished second by a one stroke margin in the Monmouth Invitational at Gibson Woods Golf Course on Sat., Sept. 11. Illinois College finished at 333 to IWU's 334. The Titans had two players finish in the top 10 as freshman Taylor Paskell was fifth with an 81 and Andrea Johanns was ninth with an 83.

September 10
Andrea Johanns and three other Illinois Wesleyan women’s golfers finished in the top 10 as the IWU team won the Knox Invitational at Galesburg’s Soangetaha Country Club on Fri., Sept. 10. Johanns finished with an 8-over par 80 to finish third as the team score of 334 was five better than second place Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Freshman Kristi Katz was fifth with an 83, Megan Teschner was seventh with an 85 and freshman Taylor Paskell tied for eighth with an 86.

September 4-5
The Illinois Wesleyan University women’s golf team had a second-day total of 353 for a total of 682, good for a fourth place finish (of 14 teams) in the UW-Eau Claire Invitational, held at Wild Ridge Golf Course on Sun., Sept. 5. Freshman Taylor Paskell and junior Megan Teschner tied for 12th individually with 170 scores while Ashley Higginson (tie-27th, 174) and Andrea Johanns (tie-29th, 175) also finished among the top 30. Gustavus Adolphus won the team title with a 665 score and Eau Claire’s Maggie Loney was the medalist at 155.

September 2
The Illinois Wesleyan University women’s golf team finished second (of 10) at the season-opening Lady Viking Invitational at Emeis Golf Club in Davenport, Iowa, on Thurs., Sept. 2. Junior Ashley Higginson (Pekin, Ill., HS) carded a three-over par 75 to claim medalist honors while Andrea Johanns (83), Kristi Katz (83) and Taylor Paskell (84) all finished in the top 10 for individuals. The Titans’ “B” team placed sixth in the event.

July 14
Four Illinois Wesleyan women’s golfers were among 61 Division III student-athletes to be selected to the 2003-04 National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team. The golfers, with academic majors, are sophomore Andrea Johanns, business administration; sophomore Alison Mayer, history/secondary education; graduated senior Stephanie Morton, business administration/art; and junior Megan Teschner, mathematics education/coaching. A total of 318 women’s collegiate golfers from NCAA Divisions I, II and III were recognized with the honor. The criteria requires a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 (3.4 for seniors) and student-athletes must have competed in at least 66 per cent of the college’s regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.

May 27
The Illinois Wesleyan women's golf team will open its 2004 fall season on Sept. 2 at the Augustana Lady Viking Invitational. held at Emeis Golf Club in Davenport, Iowa.
