BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- Illinois Wesleyan University seniors Sara Seebruch and Maggie Lamb were selected to the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin women's basketball all-star squads in voting by league coaches Tuesday in Wheaton.
Seebruch, a 5-foot-11 forward from Tinley Park (Andrew HS), was elected to the first team this season after being a second team all-CCIW choice last year and third team as a sophomore. This year she finished second in the league in both scoring (17.6) and rebounding (8.9), and was third in free throw accuracy (.833, 40 of 48) and field goal percentage (.531, 103 of 194).
Lamb, a 5-foot-3 guard from Geneseo (J.D. Darnall HS), is a repeat second team all-CCIW choice. This season she finished fifth in assists (3.6) and was ninth in 3-point shooting (.290). In 14 league games she averaged 13.9 points and scored a career-best 28 points against Augustana.
Guard Kerry Cole of league champion Wheaton was chosen "Most Outstanding Player" and the Crusaders' Beth Baker was named "Coach of the Year."
IWU freshman center Cindy Uphoff (El Paso HS) led the CCIW in field goal percentage with a .615 mark, connecting on 40 of 65 attempts. Sophomore guard Kristen Conley (Cerro Gordo HS) was third in the CCIW in 3-point field goal shooting with a .360 mark and senior forward Jacqui Bliss (Towanda, Ridgeview HS) was in a 10th place tie for rebounding with a 7.1 average. Sophomore guard Melissa Glerum (Champaign, Centennial HS) was seventh in the CCIW in free throw percentage (.793) and fourth in 3-point field goal shooting (.357).
As a team, IWU led the conference in free throw shooting with a .708 percentage. The Titans were second in field goal percentage (.422) and fifth in 3-point field goal shooting (.300). IWU was third in the league with 70.4 points per game and seventh in the CCIW in points allowed with 70.4.
