May 10
Sophomore shortstop Molly Coers was named to the first team and seniors Colleen Schuster and Brynn Hasse were second team selections to the 2005 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin all-star softball squads. Coers batted .438 in league play, third in the CCIW. She was also third in on base percentage (.471), second in hits (21) and fifth in runs (11). Hasse hit .333 in 14 CCIW games and Schuster hit .275.

May 3
The Illinois Wesleyan University softball team ended its season with a 2-0 win over Eureka at IWU Field on Tues., May 3. Senior Ashley Patten pitched a complete-game four hitter and senior third baseman Colleen Schuster had three hits (of the Titans’ total of five), including two doubles and drove home a run. The Titans’ season ended with a 20-18 overall record and a 5-9 ledger in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin.

April 30
Illinois Wesleyan split a softball doubleheader with Wheaton on Sat., April 30, at IWU Field. The Titans got a solid pitching outing from senior Ashley Patten on “Senior Day” to win game one, 4-1, then managed to get only two hits and lost the second game by a 3-2 count. Patten allowed only three hits and improved to 7-5 overall as fellow senior Colleen Schuster got two hits and two runs batted in. Katie Frawley had a double and a run batted in in each game as the Titans are 19-18 overall and finish their College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin season with a 5-9 record.

April 28
Illinois Wesleyan lost a marathon 16-inning game, 3-2, to North Central in the first game of a doubleheader on Thurs., April 28, then lost the second game, 6-2. The Titans, now 18-17 overall and 4-8 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, stranded 18 runners on base in game one and nine more in the nightcap. Sophomore Lauren Hyland pitched all 16 innings in the opener, allowing 10 hits as IWU committed five errors. Katie Frawley had three hits and Brynn Hasse had two. In the second game, sophomore shortstop Molly Coers had two hits, including a triple, the first extra base hit of the 79 hits in her first two years.

April 23
Illinois Wesleyan and Elmhurst split a softball doubleheader on Sat., April 23, in Bloomington with the Titans taking game one, 5-1, and the Bluejays winning the nightcap, 4-3. Sophomore shortstop Molly Coers had two hits in game one and three hits in game two and Colleen Schuster had two hits, including a run-scoring triple, in the first game. Lauren Hyland was the pitcher of record in both games as she went all 13 1/3 innings for IWU, allowing only two earned runs. The Titans are 18-15 overall and 4-6 in league play.

April 20
The Illinois Wesleyan University softball team dropped a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin doubleheader to league leader Augustana, 4-2 and 8-0, on Wed., April 20 at IWU field. For the day, Brynn Hasse had three hits and a run batted in for IWU (17-14 overall, 3-5 CCIW). Katie Frawley also had one RBI. Lauren Hyland (8-7) took the pitching loss in both games as Augustana improved to 26-6 overall and 8-0 in the CCIW.

April 17
The Illinois Wesleyan softball team dropped a pair of games in its own tournament on Sun., April 17, at IWU Field. The Titans (17-12) lost, 4-2, to No. 8-nationally ranked Coe, then fell to Fontbonne, 8-0. With the game tied, 2-2, Coe scored two in the fifth to win. Designated hitter Stephanie Gockley had a double and a run batted in. Katie Frawley (3-2) took the loss for IWU, allowing four earned runs on six hits. Lauren Hyland pitched two scoreless innings in relief. Against Fontbonne, Frawley and Natalie Hackett had the only two hits for the Titans. Ashley Patten (6-5) took the loss, surrendering eight runs, six earned, on nine hits, including six runs in the first inning.

April 16
The Illinois Wesleyan softball team dropped a 3-2 decision to the No. 1 ranked team in the country, Washington U., on Sat., April 16 in the IWU Tournament. The Titans (17-10 overall) took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first on Colleen Schuster's two-run single but Washington U., who had 11 hits, batted back to tie the game 2-2 in the second. The game went scoreless until the seventh when the Bears (now 37-1 this season) plated a tally off losing pitcher Lauren Hyland (8-5). Molly Coers also had two hits and Katie Frawley had the other IWU safety.

April 15
Stephanie Gockley had four hits and drove in five runs as the Illinois Wesleyan softball team rallied for a 9-7 win over Hope in the IWU Tournament on Fri., April 15. The Titans trailed, 7-3, before erupting for four in the fourth to tie the game and single runs in the fifth and seventh (Gockley’s homer) gave the Titans (17-9 overall) the win. Laura Johnson had three hits and two RBI and Brynn Hasse had two hits and scored three runs. Lauren Hyland, in relief, pitched five innings and struck out five to improve to 8-4.

April 14
The llinois Wesleyan softball team split a pair of games at Millikin on Thurs., April 14, winning the opener, 8-3, before losing 5-4 in the nightcap. In game one, senior Colleen Schuster had two hits, including a home run, and drove in three to lead IWU (16-9 overall, 3-3 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin). Stephanie Gockley also had two hits and three RBI in the opener while Molly Coers had two hits and two RBI, and Ashley Deck had three hits. Schuster also had two hits in game two and Laura Johnson had a double and a triple. With two hits in game one, senior Brynn Hasse has 183 in her career and is the new leader in career hits at IWU, topping Jenny Schertz’s mark of 181 (1994-97).

April 10
Illinois Wesleyan freshman third baseman Kendahl McIntyre smacked a home run in each game and the IWU pitchers didn’t allow a run as the Titans swept a doubleheader at North Park on Sun., April 10. Katie Frawley (3-1) and Alison Winter combined on a five-inning no-hitter as the Titans pounded out 16 hits to win the opener 9-0. In game two, Ashley Patten (5-4) and Lauren Hyland teamed up on a six-hitter in an 8-0 victory. IWU improved to 15-8 overall and 2-2 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin as North Park fell to 4-14, 0-6. McIntyre had a solo shot in the first game and a two-run blast in the nightcap. On the day, Molly Coers went 5-for-7 with three runs scored, and Laura Johnson was 4-for-6 with a double and four RBI.

April 9
Illinois Wesleyan opened its College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin softball season with a pair of road losses on Sat., April 9 at Carthage, dropping game one, 4-3, and the second game, 6-2. The Titans are 13-8 overall. In the first game, Natalie Hackett, Ashley Deck and Brynn Hasse each had two hits. Lauren Hyland was the losing hurler. Hackett was 1-for-3 in the nightcap and Stephanie Gockley had a pair of hits. Ashley Patten took the loss and her record went to 4-4.

April 6
Illinois Wesleyan’s Lauren Hyland pitched five innings, striking out six, en route to a 7-0 win in the first game against Benedictine on Tues., April 5, then earned a save in the 9-5 Titan win in game two at IWU’s Field. Offensively, IWU (13-6) had nine hits in the opener and 14 in the second game. Molly Coers had five hits and walked twice in the doubleheader, scoring three runs. Natalie Hackett had two hits in each game. Stephanie Gockley, Colleen Schuster and Katie Frawley also had two hits apiece in the nightcap. IWU baserunners were also aggressive in the twin-bill, stealing eight bases, including four by Coers and three by Brynn Hasse. Starter Ashley Patten was the winning pitcher in game two.

April 5
Illinois Wesleyan freshman second baseman Ashley Deck has been named “Hitter of the Week” in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin for games ending April 3. In six games, Deck batted .429 with nine hits in 21 at-bats while slugging three doubles and a home run. She had five runs batted in, five runs scored and a slugging percentage of .714 as the Titans went 4-2. Augustana's Jilian Widick was named "Pitcher of the Week" as she was 2-1 with a 0.32 ERA in 21 2/3 innings of work. She threw three complete games with two shutouts. She also earned a save in a 3-2 win over UW-LaCrosse on April 3. Her only loss was a 1-0 decision to UW-LaCrosse on April 2. She struck out 14 batters, walked just two and gave up 10 hits in 75 at-bats as opponents hit just .133 against her.

April 3
The Illinois Wesleyan softball team dropped both ends of a non-conference at the University of Chicago on Sun., April 3. The Titans, now 11-6, lost the opener by a 3-1 count and fell, 3-2, in the nightcap. In the first game, Colleen Schuster hit a home run and Molly Coers had two hits. Katie Frawley had two hits, including a home run, among IWU’s seven hits in game two. With the two wins, No. 20-ranked Chicago (16-1) extended its win streak to 12.

April 2
The Illinois Wesleyan University softball team came from behind in both games to take a doubleheader sweep at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. The Titans won the first game, 3-2, scoring a run in the sixth. Ashley Deck and Stephanie Gockley each had two hits as Ashley Patten and Lauren Hyland combined for the pitching decision. In game two, the Titans won, 4-3 as Erin Criz had two hits and Deck cracked a home run. Katie Frawley was the starting pitcher and Hyland relieved and earned the win for IWU, who improved to 11-4 with their fourth straight win.

March 30
Laura Johnson had six hits including two doubles and two triples to lead the Illinois Wesleyan softball team to a doubleheader sweep of Monmouth on Wed., March 30. Johnson had four hits as IWU won the first game, 7-1, and two hits as the Titans (9-4) took the second, 15-1 in five innings. Lauren Hyland (4-1) earned the win in the first game, striking out three and allowing three hits in four shutout innings, and Katie Frawley (2-1) earned the win in the nightcap after allowing two hits and one earned run in four innings. In game two, Ashley Deck had four hits and Erin Cruz had three hits including a double. Natalie Hackett had two hits and four RBI.

March 26
The Illinois Wesleyan softball team went 2-2 over the weekend of March 25-26 at the Midwest Region Invitational Tournament in St. Louis. On March 26, the Titans upended No. 22-ranked Wartburg, 3-2, and lost to Maryville, 4-1. IWU scored two in the top of the sixth to take the lead over Wartburg and Ashley Patten relieved Lauren Hyland to earn her first save. Ashley Deck had two hits and two RBI. Maryville scored two in the fourth and two in the fifth to beat the Titans (7-4 overall), who managed only singles by Deck and Jenny Freeman in the game.

March 25
Katie Frawley pitched a four-hit shutout and helped herself with the bat as the Illinois Wesleyan softball team beat MacMurray 8-0 on Fri., March 25 at the Midwest Region Invitational at St. Louis. The Titans are 6-3 after losing, 5-3 to Washington U. earlier in the day. Frawley slammed three doubles and drove in two runs in the win. Laura Johnson doubled twice and drove in a run, Ashley Deck had a double, single and RBI, and Kelly Nelson added another double and two RBI in the win. Frawley walked four and struck out five. Starter Ashley Patten (3-1) took the pitching loss vs. Washington U., allowing five runs (three earned) on six hits. IWU had just three hits and Deck drove in all three runs.

March 18
The Illinois Wesleyan softball team ended its Florida trip with a pair of shutout wins Fri., March 18 in the Rebel Spring Games at Kissimmee. IWU’s Lauren Hyland limited Otterbein to one hit in an 8-0 win and then Ashley Patten scattered six hits over six innings and Hyland pitched a perfect seventh, striking out the side, in a 4-0 win over Rowan. Against Rowan, Brynn Hasse had an RBI triple and Stephanie Gockley drove in a run with a pinch-hit single. Colleen Schuster and Natalie Hackett also drove in runs. In the Otterbein win, Schuster had three hits, including two doubles, and two RBI; Ashley Deck had a double, single and three RBI; and Hasse, Molly Coers and Jenny Freeman had two hits apiece for the Titans, who finished their trip with a 5-2 mark.

March 15
Illinois Wesleyan won a pair of contests at the Rebel Spring Games on Tues., March 15, topping Springfield, 5-2, and Pine Manor, 5-0. Against Springfield, Ashley Patten picked up her second win, following her no-hitter Sunday with a complete game five-hitter and struck out five. Natalie Hackett and Michelle Bradley each had run-scoring doubles to pace the Titan attack. Lauren Hyland allowed one hit and fanned 13 in the win over Pine Manor. Titan leadoff hitter Molly Coers was five-for-seven in the doubleheader. The two wins gives IWU a 3-2 record with four more games slated for the spring trip.

March 15
Illinois Wesleyan senior Ashley Patten was named “Pitcher of the Week” in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin for games ending March 14. Patten pitched an eight inning no-hitter as Illinois Wesleyan opened its season with a 2-0 win over Fairleigh-Dickinson in Orlando, Florida. She walked one and struck out four.
Wheaton's Erin Strong was named the “Hitter of the Week” as she batted .429 with 15 hits in 35 at-bats helping the Thunder go 7-4 on a spring trip to Tucson, Ariz.

March 14
The Illinois Wesleyan softball team managed only two hits in losing a 2-0 decision to McKendree on Mon., March 14 at the Rebel Spring Games in Orlando, Fla. At 1-2, IWU is below .500 for the first time since opening the season with a loss in 2000. Laura Johnson and Jenny Freeman got the lone singles off McKendree’s Amy Maurer. Katie Frawley (0-1) took the loss despite allowing just two third inning runs (one earned) on five hits over seven innings with three strikeouts. IWU's second game against Massachusetts Fine Arts was rained out.

March 13
Illinois Wesleyan senior Ashley Patten threw an eight-inning no-hitter as the Titans opened their season with a 2-0 win over Fairleigh-Dickinson-Florham at the Rebel Spring Games in Orlando, Fla., on Sun. March 13. Patten walked one and struck out four as Stephanie Gockley broke a scoreless tie with a two-run, pinch-hit single in the top of the eighth inning. IWU had just four hits, all singles. In its second game, IWU fell behind 4-0, rallied to tie the game with four runs in the fourth, but lost 5-4 to Endicott (Mass.) Michelle Bradley had a double and two RBI, Laura Johnson drove in two runs and Colleen Schuster and Katie Frawley each had two hits for the Titans. Lauren Hyland took the pitching loss.

March 8
The Illinois Wesleyan University softball team opens its season March 13 in Orlando, Fla, at the Rebel Spring Games. The Titans, 31-10 last season, play Fairleigh Dickinson –Florham at 8:50 a.m. and Endicott at 12:30 p.m. to start their 10-game spring trip. Senior centerfielder Brynn Hasse was a second team Division III All-American last spring as she set a school record with a .475 batting average and led IWU in hits (58), runs (33), triples (4), total bases (72), steals (16), slugging percentage (.590) and on-base percentage (.533). Hasse has 167 career hits and needs only 15 to eclipse the school mark of 181.
