Reeley Announces For IWU Softball
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- Softball standout A.J. Reeley of Danville High School has decided to attend Illinois Wesleyan University to continue her academic and athletic career, IWU softball coach Mandy Neal announced today.
A pitcher and infielder, Reeley was the Danville Commercial News "Player of the Year" this spring as she had a 16-2 mound record with 102 strikeouts in 117 2/3 innings and a 0.65 earned run average.
A three-time all-Big 12 Conference and Commercial News all-area selection, Reeley was 10-10 with a 2.09 ERA as a junior and had an 8-8 record with a 2.25 earned run average as a sophomore. She was honorable mention all-Big 12 as a freshman.
She was first team all-area choice in the Champaign News-Gazette and the area "Player of the Year" as a senior after being on the second team as a junior and earning honorable mention as a sophomore.
Reeley was a Big 12 Scholar-Athlete for three seasons, was her team's MVP as a junior, and served as team captain this spring. She was also named to the Rantoul all-tournament team in 1998 and 1999.
Reeley, who plans to major in mathematics or business at IWU, ranked No. 1 in her graduating class of 325. She is the daughter of Lorna Reeley, 10 Fletcher, Danville, and the late Brad Reeley.

The Titans were 27-12-1 in 1999 and will return 11 letterwinners in 2000 . . . Mandy Neal has coached softball for 11 seasons and has a 275-145-1 career record with two NCAA Division III tournament appearances (1994 and 1996) and four College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin titles (1991, 1994, 1996, and 1997).
