John Fish began coaching at Illinois Wesleyan University as head men's tennis coach in September of 2000. Starting with only two returning players from the previous year, the team finished fourth in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin. With a strong  recruiting class now on campus there are higher expectations to develop the program to the championship level that it has known in the not too distant past.
 
John is a graduate of Western Illinois University and Proviso West High School. While attending WIU he was a member of the NAIA national championship gymnastic team. Later he became owner and CEO of a manufacturing corporation based in Chicago. Drawing on his leadership skills and a desire to work with young athletes, he expects to take the IWU men's tennis program to a higher level.
 
In 2002, John was married to Teresa Zurick (IWU swimming coach).
