SWIM TEAMS SECOND IN CCIW MEET

The Illinois Wesleyan men’s and women’s swimming teams each finished second in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin meet Feb. 10-12 at IWU. Sophomore Kathy Carroll (Orland Park, Sandburg HS) [pictured above on right] was the co-winner of the CCIW women’s Most Valuable Swimmer honor as she earned three first place finishes. Carroll placed first in the 500 free (5:10.22), the 1650 free (17:51.22), and the 400 individual medley (4:39.02).

Senior Laura Carroll (Orland Park, Sandburg HS) placed first in the 50 free and the 100 free and got second in the 200 free, while sophomore Lisa Diersen (Park Forest, Rich East HS) got first in the 100 breaststroke. Freshman Erin Bicek (Downers Grove, North HS) won the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:29.66.

IWU’s Teresa Zurick [pictured above on left] was named CCIW Coach of the Year for women’s teams.
