IWU's Hamblin Named to all-Region Squad

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- Illinois Wesleyan University junior Tiffany Hamblin has been named to the 12-member all-Midwest Region volleyball team for Division III schools, as chosen by member coaches of the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

Hamblin, a setter from Bloomington (HS), was named earlier this week to the first team of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin all-star squad for the second straight season. She has been the Titans' team leader the past two seasons in service aces and digs and has led the team the past three seasons in set assists, amassing a school-record 1,450 assists this season.

Her dig total of 531 this fall is the second best in an IWU single season while her 71 aces is the third best.

With one season remaining, Hamblin already holds the IWU career record with 3,959 set assists, eclipsing the old standard of 3,442 set by Loni Mitchell from 1986-89. Hamblin is No. 2 in career digs with 1,340, No. 6 in service aces with 167, and No. 12 with 175 career blocks.

The region's "Freshman of the Year" was middle blocker Amber Petersen of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
