2002 CCIW FOOTBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Chris Ross of Illinois Wesleyan & Brad Musso of Wheaton share offensive "Player of the Week" honors while Nate Carden of Millikin and Benitez Brown of Elmhurst are named defensive "Players of the Week" for games of September 28

ROCK ISLAND, Illinois  -- Illinois Wesleyan tailback Chris Ross and Wheaton wide receiver Brad Musso shared the offensive "Player of the Week" award in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin following action on Saturday, September 28. For the second time this season Millikin defensive end Nate Carden has been named defensive "Player of the Week" and he shares the honor with Benitez Brown of Elmhurst.

Ross gained 206 yards on 35 carries and scored two touchdowns as the Titans defeated previously undefeated Chicago by a score of 34-16. Ross’ touchdowns came on runs of 17 and two yards and he also had a long run of 63 yards.

Musso caught six passes for 143 yards and had touchdowns of 53 and 24 yards. He also returned five Hope punts for 57 yards including a long one of 27 yards. Wheaton defeated Hope in a wild 49-30 game in which the Thunder gained 568 yards of total offense.

Ina 65-7 demolition of Anderson, Carden had seven total tackles (six solo and one assist). Of those tackles, three were for losses totaling 16 yards and one was a sack for 10 yards.

Brown was instrumental in the Elmhurst defense allowing just 68 yards of rushing in a 30-7 victory over Elmhurst. He had 13 total tackles, five of which were solo as the Bluejays gave up just 10 first downs in the game.
