Neis Soccer Field to Be Dedicated Sept. 1

Illinois Wesleyan University will dedicate the Neis (pronounced: Nice) Soccer Field prior to the opening game of the men's soccer season this Friday.

A ceremony will be held at 4:30 p.m. at the soccer field, located north of the Jack Horenberger Baseball Field on Franklin Ave. in Normal. The dedication is free and open to the public and there will be refreshments.

Tom and Marilyn Neis of McHenry, Ill, are 1970 and 1971 graduates of IWU, respectively, and their daughter, Melissa, is a junior art major at the school. Another daughter, Elizabeth, plays soccer at Millikin and Tom's grandmother, the late Jeanette Neis, was a 1927 Illinois Wesleyan alumna.

Tom Neis is an independent insurance agent in Crystal Lake, Ill., where the Chamber of Commerce named him the 1994 "Citizen of the Year". The Neis Insurance Agency has more than 350 business clients and more than 2,500 personal clients.

The Titan men host Maryville University at 5 p.m., followed by the season opener for the IWU women against Wisconsin-Stout at 7 p.m.
