Sophomore Tim Hachmeister (Elmhurst, Ill., Ill. Math and Science Academy) earned All-American status with his 18th place finish in the NCAA Division III national championship, held Nov. 23. In earning IWU’s first cross country All-American honor as only the second Titan ever to qualify for the national meet, Hachmeister’s time in the national meet was 25 minutes, 37 seconds. Hachmeister broke his own school record to qualify for the Division III championships during the Midwest Regional on Nov. 16 in Peoria. Hachmeister placed fifth in 24:52 to help IWU place 15th (of 35). In the women’s regional, Valerie Lambrecht (Winfield, Ill., Wheaton North HS) became the school's first female to earn all-region honors as she placed 30th in 22:37. The IWU women were 12th in the team standings, the school's best-ever finish.
