BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan sophomore Cory Lapinski was selected to the first team of the American Baseball Coaches Association all-Central Region squad and teammate Mick Curran earned third team honors.
Lapinski, a centerfielder from Niles (Maine East HS), was also a first team College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin selection and was named to the NCAA Division III regional all-tournament team. This spring he set a school season record with 73 hits and led IWU with a .397 batting average, four triples and a .647 slugging percentage. He tied Curran for the team lead with 14 doubles and was second with eight home runs and 42 runs batted in. His 49 runs scored is second most in an IWU season.
Curran, a junior third baseman from Orland Park (Sandburg HS), was also a first team all-CCIW selection this spring. For the 28-19 Titans, Curran batted .383 with a team-high .466 on-base percentage. He also had 14 doubles, five hone runs, 36 RBI and scored 45 runs.
