Illinois Wesleyan’s Hasse Named All-American

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — Illinois Wesleyan sophomore outfielder Brynn Hasse was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III first-team all-American squad that was announced Thurs. (May 15). Hasse is the first Illinois Wesleyan softball player to earn first team All-American honors.

Hasse (Chillicothe, IVC HS) also is among six players who are finalists for the Honda Award, given to the nation's best Division III softball player. That award winner will be announced next week.

IWU (36-6) meets Muskingum, Ohio (42-3) at 3 p.m. Fri. (May 16) in a first-round Division III World Series game at the Moyer Sports Complex in Salem, Va.

Hasse set an IWU single-season record with 70 hits this season. Her .483 batting average will be a school record if she stays ahead of the .469 mark set by Jennifer Jancik in 1992. Hasse also set a school record with nine triples. She has scored a team-high 38 runs and is second on the team with 26 runs batted in.

A first-team College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin all-star, Hasse led the league during conference games with a .604 average, 29 hits, 18 runs, five triples and 40 total bases.
