Titans Palmer and Hasse Earn 1st Team All-Region Honors7 May 2004 BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyans Jamie Palmer and Brynn Hasse were chosen to the first team of the All-Great Lakes region as the 2004 Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III All-Region softball squads were announced Thurs., May 6, by the NFCA. Palmer, a senior second baseman from Knoxville (HS), batted .347 with a school record-tying 15 doubles and led IWU with 26 runs batted in. Hasse, a junior centerfielder from Chillicothe (IVC HS), led IWU with a .475 batting average, topping her own school record set last year (.472). She had six doubles and four triples and led IWU with 33 runs scored and 16 stolen bases. Senior pitcher Kelly Murray (Bloomington, Central Catholic HS) and sophomore first baseman Katie Frawley (Oswego, N.Y., HS) were chosen to the second team, while freshman shortstop/designated hitter Molly Coers (Manito, Midwest Central HS) was a third team honoree. Murray was 15-5 with a 1.29 earned run average. She struck out 88 and walked 22 in 135 2/3 innings. She also batted .301 with two doubles and two home runs. Frawley was fourth on the team with a .337 batting average and had four doubles and a homer. She also knocked home 14 runs and, as a pitcher, logged a 5-1 record with a 2.31 earned run average. Coers was second on the Titans with a .402 batting average and had 37 hits, all singles. She also knocked home 10 runs. The Titans finished their 2004 season with a 31-10 record and tied for the regular season championship in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin with an 11-3 mark.
