Freshman Gena Rawlins won the 400-meter dash Saturday to lead Illinois Wesleyan's women's track and field team to fourth place in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin meet.

Rawlins (Atlanta, Stanford Olympia HS) had a winning time of 57.20 seconds. She also took seventh in the 100 (13.18) and third in the 200 (25.63).

Laura Tipton (Grayslake HS) added a victory in the 800 for IWU in 2:20.21. The Titans finished with 92 points to trail North Central (174), Carthage (159 1/2) and Augustana (154 1/2).

IWU's 1,600 relay of Michelle Dionne (Pana HS), Katie O'Rourke (Bloomington, Central Catholic HS), Gianina Taylor (Decatur, Eisenhower HS) and Rawlins, also was victorious in a meet record 3:56.12.

Taylor also turned in an NCAA Division III qualifying time of 57.95 while finishing third in the 400.

IWU discus thrower Jen Schloz (Oconee, Pana HS) placed second with a toss of 131 feet, 2 inches, and Jori Jacobeit of IWU ran fifth in the 3,000 steeplechase (12:07.51).

On the men's side, the Titans finished eighth with 24 points. North Central won with 237. IWU was led by Tim Hachmeister (Elmhurst, Ill. Math & Science Adademy) and his second place finish in the 5,000-meter run (15:24.91).

Other IWU placers in field events were Clint Warren (Ottawa, Serena HS) in the long jump (seventh, 19-9}) and Jim Lehan (DeKalb HS) in the javelin (eighth, 155-10).
