Kewanee's Boswell to Attend Illinois Wesleyan

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- Kewanee High School's Mark Boswell has decided to attend Illinois Wesleyan University to further his academic and athletic careers, IWU basketball coach Dennie Bridges announced today.

Boswell, a 6-foot-6, 195-pound forward, averaged 17 points and a team-best 8.4 rebounds per game as a senior, when he was a unanimous first team all-North Central Illinois Conference selection. A 79 percent free throw shooter, Boswell finished his career with 1,082 points and 471 rebounds. He was second team all-NCIC as a junior.

"Mark has the potential to be an outstanding college player," said Bridges. "He can play inside or outside positions and will get even better as he plays with better players."

As a junior and senior he was a first team member of the Quad City Times all-Western Illinois high school basketball squad and was named to the Bloomington/Normal Holiday Classic all-tournament team as a junior. As a senior he connected on all 14 of his free throw attempts in Bloomington/Normal Holiday Classic games.

Boswell, who plans to major in computer graphics at IWU, was an academic all-conference selection in basketball, track, and golf and may also participate in golf at IWU. He is the son of David and Sara Boswell, 13 Edgewood Dr., Kewanee.
