Bloomington High's Vogel to Attend Illinois Wesleyan

 

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- Bloomington High School standout tennis player Krista Vogel has decided to attend Illinois Wesleyan University to further her academic and athletic careers, IWU women's tennis coach Barb Cothren announced today.

Vogel had a career singles record of 26-6 and was 11-0 in 1998, winning the Big 12 No. 5 singles title. Her career doubles mark was 42-38 and, as a senior, had a 22-17 doubles mark and played on the sectional runner-up doubles team. She also was a state qualifier in doubles as a sophomore.

Her team's co-captain and an all-stater as a senior, Vogel was an Illinois High School Association "Scholar-Athlete" as a junior and senior and was an all-Big 12 "Scholar-Athlete" all four years.

Vogel, who plans to major in political science at IWU, is the daughter of Steve and Mary Vogel, 9 Kensington Circle, Bloomington.
