BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- Paige Lewis of Normal West High School and Jenny Lymangood of Naperville North High School have decided to attend Illinois Wesleyan University to continue their athletic and academic career, IWU head women's golf coach Kathy Niepagen announced today.

A three-year varsity golfer and team co-captain as a senior, Lewis finished third in the 22-school Normal Community Invitational as a senior, when she was also fourth in the Intercity tournament. She won the Normal West tournament and was second in the NCHS alternate shot tournament.

In summer play, Lewis won the Bloomington-Normal Junior City tournament in 1999 and was fourth in 1998. She took second in the Lincoln Junior Golf tournament in 1999 and was second at the Railside Junior Open in Gibson City in 1998.

An Illinois High School Association regional finalist as a sophomore and senior, Lewis was one of 35 golfers selected to participate in the United States Scholar Athlete Games at the University of Rhode Island in June 1999. She also played in the PGA Juniors Tournament in Beaver Creek, Ohio.

Lewis, who plans to major in vocal performance at IWU, is a three-time Big 12 Scholar-Athlete. She is the daughter of Mark and Pam Lewis of Normal.

Lymangood was a four-year first team all-DuPage Valley Conference selection and was the league champion in 1998. She has placed in the top 65 individuals in the last three Illinois High School Association tournaments, finishing tied for 27th in the 1998 tournament with a two-day score of 177. She tied for 65th in the 1999 state tourney and was 61st as a sophomore, both times with a total of 182.

Lymangood, who plans to major in either business or chemistry at IWU, is the daughter of Bill and Barb Lymangood, 1130 Kinsie Ct., Naperville.

About Illinois Wesleyan University

IWU, founded in 1850, enrolls about 2,000 students in a College of Liberal Arts, College of Fine Arts, and a four-year professional School of Nursing. A $15 million athletics and recreation center opened in the fall of 1994 and a $25 million science center opened in fall 1995. The $5.1 million Center for Liberal Arts, a facility housing 60 faculty offices, six classrooms, and other facilities for social science, humanities, business and economics, and interdisciplinary studies' faculty, opened in August 1997, as did a new $6.8 million residence hall. The Carnegie Commission for the Advancement of Teaching promoted Illinois Wesleyan to a "Baccalaureate I" institution in 1994, a classification that places it among 159 highly-selective National Liberal Arts Colleges in the annual U.S. News & World Report rankings. Barron's Profiles of American Colleges, another respected college guide, rated IWU "highly competitive +" in its latest edition.
