Osborn, Wente Named Co-MVPs
of Titan Basketball Squad

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- Seniors Adam Osborn and Todd Wente have been elected co-winners of the "Most Valuable Player" award for the Illinois Wesleyan University men's basketball team.

It is the first time since Fred Evans and Tom Gramkow shared the honor in 1970 and only the second time since 1949 that there have been co-MVPs in Illinois Wesleyan men's basketball.

The Titans finished with a 24-7 overall record and placed third in the national NCAA Division III championships, winning nine of their final 10 games.

Osborn, a 6-foot-2 guard from New Holland (Lincoln HS), earned his fourth varsity letter as he averaged 11.2 points and led the team with 4.2 assists per game. A third team all-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin selection, Osborn's single-game high was 20 points vs. Washington U. and he led the team in scoring four times.

Osborn finished his career with 136 3-pointers, which is fourth best all-time at IWU, and with 281 assists, which makes him No. 10 all-time at the school. His 130 assists is eighth best in a single-season and his 55 3-point field goals is tied for 11th most.

Wente, a 6-foot-6 forward from Effingham (St. Anthony HS), also earned his fourth letter as he scored 10.4 points and snared 5.4 rebounds per game. Despite missing three games after an appendectomy in December, Wente led IWU in rebounding eight times, including the final two games of the season. He grabbed 13 boards in the third place win over Ohio Northern.

Wente's single-game highs were 19 points vs Augustana and 14 rebounds vs MacMurray and he had two "double doubles" in points and rebounds.

Head coach Dennie Bridges, who retired following his 36th season with a career mark of 667-319, indicated that new Titan coach Scott Trost will determine how next season's captain will be chosen.

Junior Ryan McCreery (Mason City, Illini Central HS) is the winner of the team's annual free throw award. He connected on 30 of 38 free throws for a .789 percentage.

Sophomore Luke Kasten (Coffeen, Hillsboro HS), a 6-foot-7 forward, was a first team all-CCIW selection as he became the first IWU player to score over 400 points in each of his first two seasons. After two years, Kasten is No. 44 in career scoring with 911 points and No. 40 at IWU with 345 rebounds.

Kasten, who led the team with 32 blocked shots, was IWU's high scorer in 14 games and top rebounder six times. He had five "double-doubles" in points and rebounds, scoring in double figures in 27 games, including the final seven of the year.
