Titans’ Stephen Earns Weekly League Honor

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- Illinois Wesleyan freshman outfielder Stephanie Stephen has been named "Player of the Week" for College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin softball.

In 13 games, Stephen (Martinsville, Casey-Westfield HS) batted .400, going 16-for-40, with six home runs and 17 runs batted in. She scored 14 runs, walked twice and stole four bases.

Stephen is currently third in the CCIW with a .436 batting average and leads the league in home runs and runs batted in (31).

With three weeks remaining this year, Stephen has seven homers, which ties the school's single-season record, set by Jenny Miller in 1994. The IWU career home run record is 13, set by Sara Kummer, who played from 1996 to 1999.

IWU, 23-15 overall and 6-4 in the CCIW, hosts Millikin in a 3 p.m. doubleheader Wednesday (April 19) and travels to North Central on Saturday (April 22) for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
