Dauksas, Amelianovich Earn D3hoops.com Honors

16 March 2005

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — Illinois Wesleyan juniors Adam Dauksas and Keelan Amelianovich were chosen to the first team of the Midwest Region squad named for the fourth year by D3hoops.com.

Dauksas, a 6-foot-3 guard from Flossmoor (Homewood-Flossmoor HS), was a second team D3hoops.com all-region selection a year ago. This year he was the “Most Outstanding Player” in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin and a first team all-CCIW selection as he averaged 15.1 points and 5.6 assists in leading IWU to a 21-5 season.

Dauksas was the team’s leading scorer in seven games and his 145 assists is the fifth highest total in an IWU single season.

After three seasons Dauksas is No. 4 at the school with 380 career assists and is No. 34 with 1,040 points. His 135 career 3-pointers is tied for sixth and his 277 made free throws is 15th.

His .793 free throw percentage (277-of-349) makes him No. 7 among IWU players with 250 or made in a career.

Amelianovich, a 6-foot-6 forward from Naperville (Neuqua Valley HS), was a first team D3hoops.com all-region selection a year ago. A first team all-CCIW selection this year, he averaged a team-high 17.9 points per game and led IWU in scoring in 13 games. He scored in double figures in 24 of 26 games.

He is No. 4 at IWU with 155 3-point field goals and his 994 points makes him No. 37 among Titan career scorers.

Players were nominated for the awards by the sports information directors at the various schools, and a record 606 players were nominated nationwide. The ballot was then made available to SIDs, who voted for 10 players in their region. SIDs voted for six frontcourt players and four backcourt players and the top vote-getters at each position were named to the
All-Region team.

"We are thankful to the sports information directors across Division III who took the time to nominate and vote to provide broader recognition to these worthy student-athletes," said D3hoops.com publisher Pat Coleman. "Participation continues to grow each year and that only strengthens the team."
