Illinois Wesleyan 132, Grinnell 91

Illinois Wesleyan placed six players in double figures as the Titans defeated Grinnell 132-91 in the first round of 2001 NCAA Division III Tournament.

The Titans (20-6) advance to play Wartburg (24-3) on March 3. Grinnell finishes the season at 16-8.

IWU set school single-game records for points (132) and free throws made (40 of 50). The scoring output also broke the Division III tournament record for scoring, set in 1996 by Wheaton (Ill.) in a 131-117 win, also over Grinnell.

IWU was led by John Camardella with 22 points, while Chris Silagi added 21, Luke Kasten 20, Seth Hubbard 16, Todd Wente 15 and Eric Starkey 13. 

Grinnell, who was held below 100 points for only the third time this season, got 15 points from Steve Wood. The Pioneers, who were outrebounded, 59-35, shot 13-for-52 (.250) from 3-point range and 28-for-89 (.315) from the floor.
