IWU's Kasten, Osborn Named to All-CCIW Squads

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- Illinois Wesleyan's Luke Kasten was a unanimous first team selection and Adam Osborn earned third team honors in voting for the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin all-league players, conducted by league coaches today in Naperville.

Kasten, a 6-foot-7 sophomore forward from Coffeen (Hillsboro HS), was a second team all-CCIW selection as a freshman. He is joined on the first team by Jason Wiertel and Rob Garnes of Carthage, Luke Moo of Wheaton, and Elmhurst's Ryan Knuppel, who won the "Fred Young Most Outstanding Player" honor.

All first team players except Garnes were unanimous choices.

Kasten was third in the league with a scoring average of 18.1 points, was fifth in the league with a .579 field goal percentage (92 of 159), and was tied for 10th with a free throw mark of .730 (65 of 89).

On the second team was Rob Berki of North Park, Justin Carley of Elmhurst, Drew Carstens of Augustana, Brad Skowronski of Millikin, and North Central's Yulander Wells.

Osborn, a 6-foot-2 senior guard from New Holland (Lincoln HS), was joined on the third team by Carthage's Greg Ktistou and Antoine McDaniel, Augustana's Mike Nee, and Nelson Grant of Elmhurst.

Osborn averaged 10.9 points in 14 league games and finished second in the CCIW with 4.3 assists per game.

As a team, IWU led the league in scoring offense (81.0 per game) and was second in field goal percentage (.512). The Titans, who finished third with a 10-4 mark, were third in 3-point field goal percentage (.382), fifth in free throw percentage (.710), and sixth in scoring defense (74.3).

IWU sophomore John Camardella (Arlington Heights, Hersey HS) was sixth in the league with a 7.4 rebound average and was second with a .620 field goal percentage (49 of 79).

Senior Todd Wente (Effingham, St. Anthony HS) led the CCIW with 2.1 steals per game and was ninth with a .513 field goal percentage (59 of 115).

Sophomore Seth Hubbard (Normal, U High) was seventh in the league with a .558 field goal mark (43 of 77) while sophomore Laban Cross (Dahlgren, McLeansboro HS) finished fourth in 3-point accuracy at .459 (17 of 37).

IWU (19-6) hosts Grinnell (16-7) in a first round NCAA Division III game at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Shirk Center.
