for NCAA Playoff GameBLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- A ticket plan has been organized for Illinois Wesleyan hosting Grinnell in a first round game at 7:30 p.m. Thursday (March 1) in the NCAA Division III tournament, IWU athletic director Dennie Bridges announced today.
The tickets, all reserved seats, will go on sale at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday at the Shirk Center, 302 E. Emerson.
Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students of all ages. No passes will be accepted for the NCAA tournament game.
Remaining tickets will be sold on an ongoing basis at the Shirk Center athletic offices and at the door prior to the game. Standing-room only tickets will not be sold in advance, but will be offered Thursday night.
The Titans are 19-6 and have won four straight, while Grinnell is 16-7 and has won nine straight games.
The 1997 Division III national champions, IWU is making its 14th appearance in the NCAA tourney in 18 years of Division III association, which began before the 1983-84 season. The Titans have a record of 25-13 in the tournament and also finished third in 1996.
Grinnell's only other Division III tourney appearance was in 1996 when they lost to Wheaton, 131-117.
The winner of the IWU-Grinnell game will play at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, on Saturday in a second round game.
