KATHY CARROLL REPEATS AS CCIW “SWIMMER OF THE YEAR”



    For the third straight year, IWU senior Kathy Carroll (Orland Park, Sandburg HS) has been named “Swimmer of the Year” in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin, sharing the honor with North Central’s Maureen Szweda.

    Carroll finished first in last weekend’s CCIW meet in the 500 free, 1650 free and 400 individual medley (school and CCIW record), and was a member of relay teams that finished second in the 200 free, 400 free (school record), 800 free (school record), and 400 medley. She is a provisional qualifier in all events for the national Division III meet.

    Erin Bicek (Downers Grove, North HS) won the 200 breast and 200 individual medley in helping the IWU women’s team finish third while, for the men, Jason Ozbolt (Lockport HS) won the 400 IM and finished second in the 500 free and 1650 free, setting a school record with a time of 16:15.33. The IWU men finished second in the six-team league finals.
