BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan University senior Beth Crowley has earned honorable mention status on the Division III All-American volleyball team chosen by member coaches of the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
Crowley, a 5-foot-10 outside hitter from Bloomington (Normal West HS), was earlier chosen to the 12-member Division III all-Midwest Region team and was "Player of the Year" in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin. A first team all-CCIW selection, she led the league with 5.14 kills per game and was ninth with 4.95 digs per game.
A two-time CCIW "Player of the Week," this fall, Crowley led IWU with 514 kills, the third most in a single season at IWU, and was third in digs (424) and fifth in blocks (52). She was chosen to the all-tournament teams at UW-LaCrosse, in two IWU-hosted tournaments, and the CCIW tournament.
She finished her career with 1,533 kills, making her third all-time at IWU. She is also fifth in career digs (1,147), 12th in service aces (129), and 17th in blocks (120).
Crowley is only the second IWU player to earn volleyball All-America notice - Tiffany Hamblin was a third team selection in 2002. Crowley was the 13th Titan to be chosen to the all-Midwest Region first team.
The Titans finished with a 26-11 overall mark and were 6-1 in winning the regular season phase of the CCIW this fall. IWU placed fourth in the conference tournament.
