Pre-Final Exam Ritual

Chuck Springwood, associate professor of anthropology, demonstrates with spinach leaves part of an Andean ritual that asks for good luck blessings as part of his course in cultural anthropology. Substituting the spinach leaves for coca leaves, the students in Springwood's class created "despachos," or coca-leaf bundles, during their final class of the semester.
