Inauguration of Illinois Wesleyan President Richard F. Wilson Scheduled for April 9, 2005 November 3, 2004 BLOOMINGTON, Ill. The inauguration of Richard F. Wilson as Illinois Wesleyans 18th president will be held on Saturday, April 9, in the Shirk Center. While the inaugural ceremony will be on April 9, the celebration will begin earlier that week and will feature a series of panels, lectures, and arts events. An inauguration steering committee has begun planning the event with Craig Hart, president of the Board of Trustees, serving as the honorary chair. April Schultz, associate professor of history, is chairing the steering committee. The steering committee comprises faculty members Kent Cook (music), Donna Hartweg (nursing), and Sue Stroyan (library); students Eric McMillan-Yates 08 and Katie Nichols 05; staff members Bud Jorgenson (physical plant), Kerri McKeown (information technology), Gaylynn Meek (athletics and physical education), and Steve Seibring 81 (alumni relations); Board of Trustee and Alumni Association Executive Board members Phyllis Barker 71; Todd French 93; Esteban Lizano 01, and Steve Wannemacher 73; and Bloomington/Normal community representative Nancy Brokaw 71. Bloomington Mayor Judy Markowitz and Normal Mayor Chris Koos will serve as honorary members of the steering committee. Coordinating staff members on the committee are Susan Bassi, assistant to the president, and Jeff Hanna, vice president for public relations. As planning for the inauguration moves forward, details will be posted on the Universitys Web site. |
