Two IWU Employees Win Pride of District CASE V Awards

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Two Illinois Wesleyan University employees received awards for their artistic work at the Pride of District CASE V Awards conference. The conference was held December 12-14 in Chicago.

Illinois Wesleyan University senior graphic designer Gary L. Schwartz was the recipient of two awards: the Gold Award in Excellence in Design in the Graphic Identity/Logos category for his “Mental Health Awareness Logo,” and the Silver Award in Excellence in Design in the Illustrations category, for his piece “Misalliance,” a poster for an IWU School of Theatre Arts production.

Illinois Wesleyan University photographer Marc Featherly tied for the Bronze Award in the Individual Photo: Candid category, for his photo “Safe,” depicting an IWU baseball player sliding into home.

CASE, the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, is an international association of education advancement officers. The purpose of the organization is to advance the cause of education. The conference had approximately 1,700 participants and was CASE’s first-ever awards presentation in its District V region, which includes Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin. Awards were given in 44 different categories with gold, silver, and bronze prizes awarded in each.

Schwartz has worked in graphic design for IWU since 1992, and Featherly has been University photographer since 1996.
