November 30, 2004

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Kevin Maliszewski, a junior business administration major from Glen Carbon, Ill., was recently elected president of Illinois Wesleyan University’s Student Senate.

Maliszewski is a 2002 graduate of Edwardsville Senior High School.

The Illinois Wesleyan Student Senate is the official representative governing board of the student body. In addition to planning campus activities and programs, the Senate is responsible for representing the student viewpoint in all appropriate phases of University governance and administering student activity fees. As chief administrative official of the Senate, Maliszewski’s duties include presiding at all Senate meetings and assuring communication between Senate committees.

Illinois Wesleyan, founded in 1850, enrolls approximately 2,100 undergraduates in the College of Liberal Arts, with 17 academic departments, and in the Schools of Art, Music, Nursing, and Theatre Arts.

Emphasizing a distinctive liberal arts curriculum as the central feature of every student’s education, Illinois Wesleyan also provides opportunities for professional and pre-professional preparation. A 12-to-1 faculty ratio means that the University’s students are active participants in their education, often working individually with faculty members on research in their fields of study.

A residential university, Illinois Wesleyan provides a vibrant campus environment in which rich co-curricular offerings complement the primary academic mission.
