Blackstock Hall Supports Young Artists

November 19, 2004

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- Blackstock Hall held a barbecue fundraiser which benefited Heyworth Junior and Senior High School. The barbecue, or as they called it, a “BBBQ” (Blackstock Barbecue)/Mid-Afternoon Outdoor Rave/Post-LSAT Party, took place on October 3 and raised $155.

The idea for the fundraiser came about when the residents of Blackstock recognized that art programs are often under funded at many public schools. “Art is not available to everybody,” said Eric Infanzon, two-year resident of Blackstock Hall and an art major from Chicago. Acknowledging this lack of strong art programs in public schools, the residents of Blackstock felt they needed to “contribute something positive to the community.”

Blackstock held the barbecue on a Sunday to get maximum participation. Body painting was a highlight of the event, and two Blackstock residents, Lindsay Vrab, a theatre arts major from Lansing, Ill., and Patricia Nosek, an English-literature major from Bloomington, painted themselves to show off the attractions of the barbecue.

Vrab, along with Giovanni Rodriguez, a nursing major from Highwood, Ill., another Blackstock resident, later delivered the money to Heyworth Junior and Senior High School. The donation was greatly appreciated by the students and teachers at the school.
