Background: According to his fans, Darryl Morris offers a blend of acoustic music filled with romantic, playful, political, and sometimes dark subject matter, thematically linked to touch the listeners soul. Morris reflects on the deeper meanings of lifes mysteries from unique vantage points and rarely considered angles. His main goal in concerts is to make a positive impact on an individuals consciousness by creating music to be enjoyed and remembered.
The primary spiritual sources for Morris music come from such activists as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, and Angela Davis. His musical influences include Freddie Mercury, Jimi Hendrix, James Taylor, Tracy Chapman, and Bernie Taupin.
The Underground, sponsored by Illinois Wesleyan Universitys Office of Student Activities, is dedicated to bringing quality entertainment on campus for IWU students. Acts participating in the Underground this year range from live bands to magicians and comedic juggling acts.
