Event: The Illinois Wesleyan Civic Orchestra presents: The Henry Charles Memorial Concerto-Aria Concert

The Bloomington Center for Performing Arts, 110 E. Mulberry, Bloomington

Admission:
$10 for adults, $5 for students and senior citizens, and $1 for IWU and ISU students with a valid ID.

Background:
This annual event will showcase Illinois Wesleyan University’s finest student-soloists on their primary instrument. All soloists are chosen by audition.

The concert is named in memory of the late Henry Charles, a member of Phi Mu Alpha. The Alpha Lambda chapter of Phi Mu Alpha, whose IWU chapter was founded in 1924, has been a contributing sponsor of concerto-aria since 1979.

The Illinois Wesleyan Civic Orchestra will perform under the direction of Steven W. Eggleston, music director and conductor and professor of brass instruments.

Program: Christopher Davis, a junior music performance major from Harvey, Ill., will perform “Concerto for Bass Trombone” by Thom Ritter George.

Elizabeth Anderson, a senior vocal major from Morton, Ill., will perform “Amour, viens render a mon ame” by Christoph Williabald Gluck.

Andrew J. Robb, a senior music composition major from Mount Prospect, Ill., will perform “Concerto No. 23 in A” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Julia Kay Morrison, a junior music theory major from Arlington Heights, Ill., will perform “O luce di quest anima” by Gaetano Donizetti.

Justyna Lutow, a sophomore music performance major from Elmhurst, Ill., will perform “Concerto in D” by Johann Brahms.

The orchestra will conclude the concert with the performance of “Introduction and Passacaglia” by Peter Gilbert.
