Background: Jerry D. Durham, professor of nursing and vice chancellor of academic affairs at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, will be the featured speaker at this years AIDS Awareness chapel hour. The event is cosponsored by IWUs Student Welfare and Human Relations Commissions.
Durham, who holds two baccalaureate and four graduate degrees, has held numerous leadership positions in nursing education. At the UM-St. Louis he was dean of the Barnes College of Nursing and Health Studies from 1997-2001. Durham also served as a faculty member and then director of Illinois Wesleyan Universitys School of Nursing from 1983-90.
In addition, Durham is the co-editor of many books on such subjects as HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, emerging infectious diseases, and private practice in nursing. These publications have earned him five Book of the Year Awards from the American Journal of Nursing.
