IWU Chapel Hour
Event: University Chapel Hour presents Dennis E. Groh, A Service of Contemporary Christian Music.
Date: Nov. 10th (Wednesday)
Time: 11:00 a.m.
Location: Evelyn Chapel, 1301 N. Park St., Bloomington
Admission: Free and open to the public
Background: Before the early 1970s, Christian music could be categorized as traditional hymns, southern gospel, or traditional black gospel. The adolescents of the 1970s wanted to revive these outdated music styles, and so began to write music that was culturally relevant and contemporary. Contemporary Christian music has since ranged in styles anywhere from rock, metal, grunge or punk, to jazz, blues, dance or pop.
