Academic:
1. Attend a 15 minute oral presentation of a Spn 373 student and evaluate, in Spanish, the student's performance. Available dates (all at 1pm in Buck 012, for 15 minutes). 10/30, 11/9, 11/18 ***Email me if you plan to attend.*** Write two-three paragraphs in Spanish: 1) summarize the content of the article, 2) address the clarity with which main points were expressed (did you understand everything), 3) address the usefulness of the PowerPoint presentation, 4) your opinion on the information conveyed (you need to have an opinion, and you can’t say you didn’t understand anything ☺) and effectiveness of the presentation in general. 2. Write a profile for the Hispanic Studies Department newsletter Consider this if writing newsletter type of narrative comes easily to you. This will require an interview in English with a person I choose, asking interesting and relevant questions, taking a digital photo and writing the 500-1000 word profile in both English and Spanish. Email me if you are interested. Extra-curricular: For credit you must write a two paragraph report in Spanish. First paragraph includes a description of event and the second paragraph includes your opinion of the event. Remember, a paragraph contains 4-5 sentences. Sept. 20 - Sunday Community Service Project Volunteers
will be shuttled to
St. Mary's Church in Bloomington where they will work at the annual
Kermes and interact with local people of Hispanic descent. Email
Roshaunda Ross (rross1 @iwu.edu) before Sept. 15 to sign up.
