Ensayo #5













1) Los mares del sur - topic to be determined

2) First draft to be turned in anytime before April 2nd. Before turning in your first draft, you need to see our Writing Center (Buck 102) "buddy" Gina Lee. Make an appointment with her glee @iwu.edu.  Your first draft will be considered incomplete if I do not receive the meeting report from Gina about your meeting with her.

3) Check list for essay.

_____ Include on one line on top left of the page, your name and assignment name (Ensayo #5).
_____ Type using Times New Roman 12 point font, double-space, double-sided, 1” margins.
_____ Bold main idea.
_____ 2-3 pages with typed accents, tildes, and punctuation.
_____ Use the present tense.

_____  Incorporate direct quotes from the text and at least one secondary source that support your main idea and use the MLA style to cite both in the Obras citadas section. If your outside source is in English, paraphrase the quote in Spanish (indirect quote) and still cite the source.
_____ Incorporate a relevant title.
_____ Underline 10 different grammar points and/or new vocabulary seen in the text.

4) If you need help, please see a tutor (Writing Center or LRC) for help on content with your first draft, he/she will only guide you, don't expect him/her to write the essay for you

5) Grading criteria for content of essay:

A work: Expresión de ideas originales y contribución de ideas provocativas; dispuesto a arriesgarse intelectualmente y defender una posición; 

B work: Expresión de ideas originales y contribución de ideas provocativas de vez en cuando o contribución de ideas no tan originales; dispuesto a defender una posición  con un nivel mejor que el del medio de intelectualidad; 

C work: No se arriesga intelectualmente; presenta ideas o defiende una posición con un nivel medio de intelectualidad; 

D work: Preparación mínima; hace esfuerzo mínimo; no puede defender una posición.
