Ensayo #3 
1) Preparation. Read the information about Pilsen and the murals found in Pilsen.  Information can be found on the following websites.

2) After reading up on Pilsen, write an essay desribing Pilsen's history, importance to the Latino community, and murals. Information should come from multiple sources, not just one website...cite internet sources (use MLA style).  Your conclusion sentence should be a reaction/recommendation to the article "Gringos get out of Pilsen."
First paragraph
• Does your first paragraph have an introduction? Can the reader understand what you're writing about without knowing about Pilsen? (cite internet sources correctly using MLA style.)
• Does the last sentence of your first paragraph state the main focus of your essay? You'll have to backup that focus with details in the body of the essay.  The last sentence should complete this sentence. [In this essay, I will talk about]...  The elements in brackets ARE NOT included in your main idea.
Second/Third paragraphs
• Does your essay have specific details from your sources that support the theme of your essay? (cite internet sources correctly using MLA style.)
Last paragraph
• Does your essay have a conclusion that gives the reader your general reaction you have toward the article, "Gringos get out of Pilsen"?
3) Check sheet for essay
_____ Include on one line on top left of the page, your name and assignment name (ensayo #3).
_____ Type using Times New Roman, 12 point font, double-space, 1” margins.
_____ 2 pages with typed accents, tildes, and punctuation.
_____ Incorporate a title and divided into paragraphs
_____  Cite internet sources correctly using MLA style
_____ Bold main idea.
_____ Underline 10 new vocabulary dealing with description (Cap 1 &2) and include 1-2 reactions/recommendations (Cap 2).


4) If you need help, please see the tutor for help on content with your essay.  She will only guide you, don't expect her to catch all your errors. She's availabe Mondays and Thursdays 9-12pm.
