Angoulême St-Pierre - Nave from Transept

Angouleme Collateral

Each bay is lit by a pair of windows surmounting a cornice which transects the elevation of the nave. This cornice rests upon a triple arcade joining each pillar and lightening the mass of the lower wall. The capitals which support the vaulting were added in the 19th century, adding decoration to the original, more sober, style of the building.
